Fall Classic Final Game Draws Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canada and Japan Markets.

The exciting 11-inning contest where the Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays by one run drew a total 51 million spectators across the United States, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB reported this represents the most-watched World Series Game 7 after the 1991 contest featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic contest drew over 27 million viewers on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It additionally is the most-watched Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a sixteen percent improvement over the previous Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked fourth, the fourth game was 7th, Game 5 was 8th, and the third game finished in 13th position.

International Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game averaged 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English broadcast in Canada since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game started at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – drew over 13 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Averages and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series averaged over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the complete American viewership reached 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded over 8 million viewers, an 8% rise over last year and the network’s strongest playoff performance since 2017.

MLB stated that the World Series was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in sixteen various tongues.
