From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to undertake their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group understands precisely where to head next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death started the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and warns that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as key figures in the influential clan could assist the team reach locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This means them little choice but to head to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can expect finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
